#oF Next – HoF School Rendezvous – Let’s go SWIMMING with Luzie Loose

In their intergenerational appeal, films are a reflection of our society and an important part of the cultural landscape. A good film inspires reflection, the viewers take something with them that lingers on for a long time. Especially for pupils, cinema offers an opportunity to learn more about themselves and their fellow human beings.

Since 2017, the Hof International Film Festival – the Home of Films – stages the HoF Rendezvous screenings through the year, presenting numerous films from the past festival in the presence of the filmmakers. With the project #oF Next we invite school pupils, the “next generation”, to the Rendezvous screenings. On the day following the screenings, a special school discussion round on the film then takes place between the pupils and the attending directors. Due to its focus on media education, the Schiller-Gymnasium is a partner in the project.

As a result, the Hof International Film Festival offers young people the opportunity to discover exciting films from the festival and learn more about film as an art form. The aim is to develop and integrate the cooperation between the festival and schools, as well as other education institutions, as a fixed component of the festival.

We are looking forward to the next HoF Rendezvous on Sunday, 24 February 2019: Luzie Loose, winner of the Hof Gold Prize 2018 for Best Direction will present and discuss her debut feature film SCHWIMMEN at 5pm at the Central Kino in Hof.

On the following day, Monday, 25 February 2019 at 16:00 h, the director Luzie Loose will be at the Schiller-Gymnasium for #oF Next and present her film SCHWIMMEN to interested pupils – pupils from other schools are more than welcome to attend! Please note: this is a private screening (recommended for ages 14 and up). Admission is free for all participating pupils upon presentation of a written declaration of consent from the parents.

About the film: Elisa and Anthea become best friends and develop a game in which they record everything they do with their mobile phone. Soon they come up with the idea of turning the camera around and secretly filming their classmates, the ones who have been bullying Elisa. Their close friendship develops into a destructive dynamic that becomes threatening for everyone who gets in their way.
