    Assistant Head of Operations (m/f/d) – Hof International Film Festival (Hof), Part-time (20 hours/week)

    You love film, you’re great at organising, and you keep a cool head even when ten things happen at once? Then join the Hof International Film Festival!

    We’re looking for immediate support for our office in Hof – as an assistant to the Head of Operations, closely involved in festival planning, team coordination, and everything that makes a major cultural event with guests from all over the world possible.

    Start: from April (or as soon as possible)

    For nearly 60 years, the Hof International Film Festival (HIFF) have been one of Germany’s most important film festivals. Filmmakers such as Maren Ade, Tom Tykwer, Caroline Link, Wim Wenders, Doris Dörrie, Jim Jarmusch, Werner Herzog and Peter Jackson have celebrated premieres here and gone on to conquer the film world from Hof. Over six days, around 140 feature films, documentaries and short films are screened in cinemas and via stream with the plus7streamdays. The festival is accompanied by industry networking events and a supporting programme. Throughout the year additional events takes place.The HIFF is organised by the non-profit association Cine Center Hof e.V.

    What you’ll do with us

    Together with our team, you’ll help ensure the festival runs smoothly – not only in October, but also at events outside the festival period. You’re the person who helps bring structure, keep the threads together, and get things moving.

    Organisation & Office

    • Work closely with the Head of Operations and actively follow up on tasks
    • Handle phone calls, emails, post, contracts – helping keep the office running
    • Coordinate appointments and meetings
    • Maintain databases

    Communication & People

    • Stay in touch with staff, festival guests and partners – sometimes from all over the world
    • Write and communicate in German and English (additional languages are very welcome)

    Finance, HR & Accounting

    • Support bookkeeping and festival accounting
    • Create, send, post and pay invoices
    • Support and process payroll/settlements for festival staff

    Events & Awareness

    • Support internal and public events
    • Keep an eye on mindful cooperation, especially during the festival: clear communication, calm approachability, de-escalating presence
    • Help ensure guests, team members and partners feel welcome, well informed and treated respectfully

    What you should bring

    • Experience, confidence and, above all, enjoyment in organisation/office work
    • Excellent written German, fluent/negotiation-level English
    • Independent, structured work style and a proactive attitude
    • Friendly, professional, calm – even when things get stressful
    • Motivation to actively contribute
    • Strong digital skills
    • Very good PC skills (MS Office 365, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe)
    • Film in your heart (and ideally a connection to Hof / the local cultural scene)
