Mit dem Eröffnungsfilm der 59. Internationalen Hofer Filmtage 2025 (IHF), ÜBER UNTERBIBERGER von Matthias Ditscherlein, führt die Reise am Freitag, 21. November, nach Schöfweg im Bayerischen Wald, den Geburtsort von Protagonist Franz Himpsl. Um 18 Uhr wird dort der Dokumentarfilm im Bürgerhaus im Bräugarten in Anwesenheit Himpsls gezeigt, moderiert vom Künstlerischen Leiter der IHF Thorsten Schaumann.
Franz Himpsl – Sportler, Lehrer, Trompeter, Chaot und Gründer der Unterbiberger Hofmusik – nimmt das Publikum mit auf eine musikalische Weltreise, in der er gemeinsam mit seiner Familie bayerische Volksmusik mutig und respektvoll mit Jazz und globalen Einflüssen verbindet.
Eine filmische Begegnung, die Brücken baut – zwischen Kontinenten, Kulturen und Herzen.
With the opening film of the 59th Hof International Film Festival (HIFF) 2025, ÜBER UNTERBIBERGER by Matthias Ditscherlein, the journey on Friday, 21 November 2025, leads to Schöfweg in the Bavarian Forest, the birthplace of protagonist Franz Himpsl. At 6 p.m., the documentary will be screened at the Bürgerhaus im Bräugarten in his presence, moderated by the HIFF‘s Artistic Director Thorsten Schaumann.
Franz Himpsl – athlete, teacher, trumpeter, lovable chaos agent, and founder of the Unterbiberger Hofmusik – takes the audience on a musical journey around the world, where he and his family boldly and respectfully blend Bavarian folk music with jazz and global influences.
